Map of Communication
What is globish?
Globish is already the only possible world language.
It is spoken by hundreds of millions of people in conversations everyday
Maybe you have never heard of globish, because its name is very new. The name ‘globish’ was invented by a French businessman JP Nerriere.
Globish is simple correct English with the normal ways of saying it. But it uses only 1500 words and fewer tenses. With related words (eg. Love, lover, loving) it’s just 5000 words!
This means Globish is much easier to learn and to understand than standard English.
Is globish just another language?
In fact we use the name ‘globish’ with a big capital letter at the beginning.
We want to show that it is the one permanent second language.
All other languages are more important.
In this way we protect the smaller languages.
Globish is also a group of ideas, to help make more inclusive communication.
It is the one and only shared second language.
In fact no one can be a native speaker of globish.
Native speakers of English do not own globish; they also have to learn globish.
So all speakers of globish always have their own first language.
At any time people can change to their native language, if other people share this language.
In this way, globish respects all native languages.
More people from every country can speak with more people through globish!
Globish includes the communication needs of non-native speakers of English much better.
So the end result is more shared understanding by more people in many more countries!
This is very important for the process of finding solutions to our current big global problems.
Why not make English into the world language?
English leaves too many people out of this important global conversation.
More than 80% of the world cannot have a conversation at all in English!
Many don’t speak in English, because they feel bad about their English.
This is also true for many qualified professional experts!
Will we lose good correct English through the use of globish?
No! Globish is always an alternative SECOND language.
It can never replace any first language, including English.
We can always use normal English, when this is possible.
Every day we use simpler English, to communicate with learners of English or with children. But this simpler English doesn’t make us lose contact with the full range of vocabulary (over a million words!) in English.
Globish just gives us extra opportunities to communicate better with more people.
Why is globish so important at this time?
All of the world needs to hear the voices of many more people from many countries.
English can help us to do this, but it also can keep many people out of the global conversation.
Globish helps us to be more caring and also more careful in our international multi-cultural multi-language communication.
Who is against the development of globish?
Many native speakers and elite non-native speakers of English!
They are now in a position of power in international communication. Globish threatens old power structures.
What can I do?
Talk about it!
Support globish in your conversations.
When someone asks “Do you speak English?” just reply (in English):
“No, I don’t speak English. I speak globish!”
Then explain to the native speaker of English about this new way of communication.
Have fun with this! See what happens for yourself!
Start a world conversation in globish for everyone everywhere!
